Teeth-Straightening Solutions for All Ages

Orthodontic treatments are available for everyone, from teens to adults. Beyond just enhancing your smile, orthodontics can significantly improve your oral health by correcting misaligned teeth and a crooked bite. These issues can make cleaning difficult and cause discomfort, but with treatment, they can often be resolved in as little as 6 months.

How Do I Know If I Need Orthodontics?

You may benefit from orthodontic treatment if you experience any of the following:

  • Overbite: Upper teeth protrude too far forward.
  • Spacing: Gaps between your teeth.
  • Underbite: Lower teeth extend too far forward.
  • Crowding: Teeth overlap each other.
  • Crossbite: Misaligned bite causing discomfort.
  • Pain: Chronic headaches, jaw pain, or neck pain caused by misalignment.

Orthodontic Treatment Options

Several orthodontic treatment options are available, each tailored to fit your personal needs and budget. Here are a few options:

Traditional Braces

Modern braces are smaller, more comfortable, and less noticeable than older metal versions. They are just as effective, easier to clean, and provide excellent results.

Clear Brackets

Clear brackets offer a more discreet option while still utilizing traditional braces technology. Popular among adults, they blend better with your teeth for a subtle look.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners, such as Invisalign, are custom-made transparent trays that gradually shift your teeth into position. They can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, offering flexibility and convenience, especially for special occasions.

The Cost of Orthodontic Treatment in Mississauga

With insurance, orthodontic treatment usually costs between $3,000 and $5,000+ out-of-pocket. After your oral exam, we’ll provide an accurate quote so you can determine your insurance coverage and your actual out-of-pocket expenses. Without insurance, the cost typically ranges from $4,000 to $6,000+.

How Do We Determine the Cost of Your Orthodontic Treatment?

Several factors influence the cost of orthodontic treatment:

  • Current Condition of Your Oral Health: The health of your teeth and gums.
  • Amount of Teeth Movement Needed: The more movement required, the longer and more complex the treatment.
  • Type of Treatment Chosen: The type of braces or aligners selected can impact the cost.
  • Treatment Duration: The length of time you will need orthodontic treatment.

Because every smile is unique, the best way to determine the cost and the right treatment plan for you is to schedule a consultation. We’ll review your goals, examine your teeth, and create a personalized treatment plan that suits your needs.

Your consultation will include an examination of everything from your teeth, gums and soft tissues to the shape and condition of your bite. Generally, we want to see how your whole mouth looks and functions. Before we plan your treatment we want to know everything about the health and aesthetic of your smile, and, most importantly, what you want to achieve so we can help you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ideally, orthodontic treatment begins before most adult teeth arrive, often in younger patients. If you’re a parent, we recommend bringing your teen in for a consultation. However, adults can receive orthodontic treatment too! It’s never too late to enhance your smile.

Braces are typically not painful when first applied, but some discomfort may occur as the teeth shift into place. Most patients find the sensation to be more annoying than painful. If you experience significant pain, let us know—we offer solutions to ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible.

Certain foods can damage your braces or get stuck in the brackets, making cleaning difficult. Avoid sticky foods like caramel and chewing gum, and steer clear of hard foods like candy apples and corn on the cob. Also, be mindful of foods that can stain clear braces, such as beets, curry, and Kraft dinner.

If your wire, brackets, or aligner tray breaks, call us immediately! Don’t wait until your next appointment. We’ll provide guidance and ensure you receive the proper care to prevent further issues.

Floss threaders and super floss are excellent tools to help you floss with braces or permanent retainers. At your next appointment, we can show you how to use them to ensure proper cleaning between your teeth.

For minor adjustments, orthodontic treatment may take as little as 6 months. For most patients, however, braces are typically worn for 6 months to 2 years. A more accurate estimate will be provided after an oral exam.
